Show Abstract
It the object of this study to show the relevance of negotiations underlying interactive processes aiming at the establishment of a social order within jails. Contrary to utilitarian, rational and bureaucratic analytical models which more often than not conform such an arder, the article traces its origin from the tacit contral exercised by prisoners and warders alike aver the units, and which are negotiated by both graups in the course of their dailg interactions. To do that the study identifies such units, their points of vulnerability and rupture, as well as the typical implications of such ruptures: the processes of reversed identities which erupt in a violence of variable nature and degree.
