Show Abstract
Phenomenology is one of the most important and fascinating philosophical movements of the twentieth century which, since its beginning has established close relations with Psychology. Will be through the Psychology that the phenomenological method (phenomenology of study method) will be available to the rest of the disciplines of the humanities and social sciences. Phenomenology is the study of essences and all the problems from this perspective are summarized in defining essences. Gradually, phenomenology is gaining recognition as an approach to qualitative research, applicable to study important phenomena from different fields, including the Management and Organizational Studies. The phenomenological approach, while script procedures unfolds in two major areas: the philosophical and empirical. On both areas the starting point is the social reality of the subject and the goal is our comprehension. In the philosophical level, this understanding will always be centered on that who leads the analysis of a phenomenon to the extent of its essence. In the empirical part, the object of analysis is always a part of the another´s world. The apprehension of this portion by the researcher leads, inevitably, to obtain reports on the experience of the other to achieve the phenomenon, namely, the "thing in itself". The application of the phenomenological approach to empirical research in the Humanities and Social Sciences had substantially increased in the last two decades. By comparison, it shows in its embryonal phase in the field of Administration, however, has been experiencing a dynamic growth process. One of the reasons that support this upward movement is the real perception of his consistency and meaningful epistemological range for application to the study of various organizations field problems. The objective of this paper, developed as the theoretical essay, is to bring clarifications on this approach, while philosophy of knowledge and as a method of investigation. Which can articulate with different qualitative research processes that seek to understand the real experiences of subjects tackles the most diverse phenomena everyday world. From this perspective the intention of the authors is to awaken the interest of field researchers to the phenomenological approach, because the observed growth has not always been developed in the patterns of quality that demand qualitative research - an aspect that this article will also address. From literature of the philosophy, education, psychology and management and research methodology authors this article developed the core concepts of phenomenology and phenomenological method and also presents considerations of empirical nature on the preparation and project development qualitative research under this approach.
