Abstract:
The supplies chain of public or private educational institutions, facing the microbiological laboratory diagnostics in healthcare, must be managed following quality standards and relevant legislation on biosafety, where the environment and use of sterile materials are fundamental. The high cost by the great demand for sterile plastic laboratory supplies is an important factor in organizations with health management in focus, being relevant the reverse logistics of input leftovers from opened packages that cannot return to the workflow, because they are not more sterile. The objective of this technical report is to describe how it was possible to realize the reuse of leftovers Petri dishes (not sterile), resulting from open containers through the use of treatment with ionizing radiation, in partnership with the Institute of Nuclear and Energy Research. The technical report presents, through action research, it was possible to reduce costs and employ reverse logistics in the reuse of 400 Petri dishes irradiated with the dose of 20 kGy, contributing to sustainability
