Over time the participation of women in labor organizations has undergone significant changes. To give visibility to the specific item that involves the command of organizations associated with the issue of gender, this study deals with female leadership through referrals from authors and researchers who have contributed to the theme. As a result, ithe organizational dynamics, as regards the participation of women in positions of leadership, is in a process of change. This is because of the competitiveness among labor organizations and a new culture which is beginning to emerge in the professional universe characterizing the restriction of female rise in their hierarchies as illogical The new configurations and organization of society contribute to the consolidation of a more favorable situation for female leadership.

Over the last few years literature about careers has been enriched by developments relating to the concept of boundaryless careers. But the idea of an absence of frontiers might be considered inaccurate, because boundaries continue to exist. This work tries to contribute to an understanding of the new boundaries of boundaryless careers. We carried out 20 semi-structured interviews with artists and professionals working in the creative industries. The sectors covered include multimedia art, crafts, film, dance, design, literature, music, painting, theater and software development. The results of these interviews show that careers are developed in an environment characterized by contradictory forces. These forces originate in the relationship between culture and the economy, and generate paradoxes that require trade-offs. Two of these paradoxes are discussed: the paradox between amateurism and professionalism and the paradox between the intrinsic value and extrinsic value of the work. The paper also discusses some of the strategies used by respondents to overcome these paradoxes, concluding with directions for future research.

In the face of contingencies introduced by advanced capitalism, critical analysis of elements underlying the discursive structure of entrepreneurship can contribute to a theoretical-epistemological reevaluation of the theme. According to a post-structuralist approach, we observed in social entrepreneurship practice the possibilities of differentiated relational logics in the constructive character of the entrepreneur-subject, highlighting identification with values of collectivity, a discourse that guides the meaning of cooperative action. An alternative discourse in entrepreneurial field amplifies the exclusive focus of action centered on the organization to consider entrepreneurial action as a critical fruit of the entrepreneurial subject. Mechanisms of embeddedness allow the  linkage of structure and entrepreneurial agency in a dynamic relationship, assisting the subject in the identification of social resources to carry out an  enterprise and potentialize its action. The political as an onto-epistemological category confers a new view of the entrepreneur subject – as a political actor inserted in a field of articulation.

The objective of this work is to present a different way to discuss social responsibility as a way for companies’ strategic interests. We discuss the roots of what social responsibility is called, assuming a questioning position towards the performance of companies. The starting point used is that companies are generating most of the problems in society and they act together with the State in favor of the maintenance of the status quo. The result of this joint is the existence of mediations of second order – originally contained in the analyses of Marx concerning the alienation of the worker – from social responsibility, with the use of palliative actions that maintain effective order. As an alternative, self-consciencness in critical studies is called for where the mediations of second order would be substituted by the recognition of the current situation.

This article attempts to understand the dynamics of learning and innovation in the context of cooperation networks among small and medium-sized enterprises. We seek to answer the following question: does cooperation in networks enable learning and innovation within the associated companies? The article is based on theoretical reflections of authors which indicate that learning and innovation are moving from a unidirectional, individual and endogenous process of the isolated company to an open, multidirectional, collaborative, and networked process. The study was carried out in two stages of data collection, the first was a focus group and the second was a survey of a sample of 816 companies associated to cooperation networks. The main findings emphasized that older networks with more businesses associated and from the commercial sector showed better performance concerning the adoption of new practices and the launch of new products and services.

The main purpose of this paper is to report the results of a study focusing on the potential of incubators as agents of public policies to promote sustainability in micro and small firms. One of the core premises of the authors is the nodal role that environmental decisions acquire in fostering competitiveness nowadays. Nevertheless, small firms face historical and structural problems in investing in dimensions other than economic ones. Theoretically and conceptually, the study is based on the fields of environmental management and of the Triple Bottom Line model, seen as means to translate the principles of sustainable development to the business field. In methodological terms, the study was conducted under the mantle of the qualitative method, as an exploratory study, based on a multiple case study. The results revealed a big gap between what Brazilian incubators actually do and what they should do as public agents to  promote the conditions and the culture of sustainability among small firms in environmental terms in particular.

This paper discusses the performance evaluation of interorganizational networks from an interpretative approach, which offers a particular concept about organizations and how they are formed based on the sensemaking of its individuals. We take as argument that the sensemaking process within and between business networks causes different perspectives about the meaning of cooperative relationships among the individual participants. The contribution of the interpretative approach to network performance evaluation allows accepting the subjective dimension of these organizational forms, as the production of different meanings also affect the entrepreneurs’ perceptions in evaluating the results of the cooperative arrangement. This paper proposes a model of network performance evaluation, accepting and incorporating a procedural approach and integrating the interpretative approach of sensemaking. Impossible to correct this one, I suspect the Port is just as bad.

The article describes the dimensions of social management from the little knowledge that managers of non-governmental organizations elaborate  concerning the role that they play. The research used the qualitative approach from the analysis of category content and theoretical reference established in the Theory of the Social Representation, in an attempt to disclose intra-individual, Inter-individual and situations processes, under the form of systems of beliefs, values, symbols and histories. These give sense to the existence of the studied organizations interpretations of the managers. The analysis of the results reveals the diverse strategies of the managers in the running of the organizations, where the style of the action is mediated by the face of the leader. We see that professional formation and aspects related to the social insertion of the manager are crucial in the description of the social representations. We conclude that the roles of the managers appear to be anchored in the proper insights linked to the mission and organizational goals, giving Social Management a contingencial dynamic shape.
