The ecological, or pro-environmental behavior, both in activities and aspects of life of individuals and society in relation to the environment, are directly related to environmental conscientization that currently has support in undergraduate courses of environmental education, that aims to mold the professional most conscious of their actions in relation to natural environment. The current quantitative and descriptive study sought to understand the factors that influence the Ecological Behaviour of college students in public and private universities from the State of Piaui. It was used the Ecological Behavior Scale for collect data, validated by Pato and Tamayo (2006), applied to students of the Bachelor in Business Administration, with a sample of 486 respondents. Descriptive and multivariate analyzes were used to evaluate data. From the parallel analysis and exploratory factor analysis it was found six factors, which were then used as independent variables in the regression analysis, where the dependent variable was the Ecological Behavior. The results of this study differ from Pato and Tamayo (2006), especially subdividing "saving water and energy" by one factor to each resource, and also separating "activism-consumption" in "activism" and "activismconsumption". Regression analysis showed very high explanatory level model, with R²=99.2%, validating the explanatory factors of ecological behavior. The theoretical contributions of this study lie in the distinction of results even using similar respondents, in this case, students, which may be due to cultural or regional factors.

Innovative Capacity and the Economic and Financial Performance of Brazilian Innovative Companies

Based on the theoretical premises of the Resource Based View (RBV) and considering the use of internally available resources at organizations for the maintenance of a competitive edge by means of differentiation, this research evaluates the relation between innovative capacity and economic and financial performance in Brazilian companies. The sample was made up of companies listed on the BM&FBovespa which were considered innovative according to the IBI. The variables of innovative capacity collected from 2005 to 2008 PINTECs and performance by means of Economática® were submitted to an analysis of regression and correlation. Results indicate that economic (ROA) and operational (EBITDA/Total Active) performances are not significantly influenced by innovative capacity. However, when one breaks innovative capacity down to its components (product innovation, organizational process and marketing), a positive influence of product innovation is observed on both performances. On the other hand, value performance (MVA) is influenced positively and significantly by innovative capacity. These results hint at better accounting results when companies innovate in products and greater generation of market value when they display a diversified portfolio of innovation, that is, greater innovative capacity. One cannot, however, neglect the innovations in organizational process and marketing. There is little relation between these innovations, perceptible inside companies, and performance and that might be due to different innovative strategies adopted for the benefit of each company’s main objective.

January Effect in Shares and ADRS of Brazilian Companies after the Start of Taxation of Capital Gains

The abnormal returns for stock prices observed in January (known as the "January effect") are evidence of the predictability of returns. This anomaly is observed in many financial markets around the world.Its main explanation is the booking of capital losses in an effort to reduce taxes payment. Thus, this study aims to assess the existence of the "January effect" in a crosssectional analysis of monthly returns of shares of Brazilian companies in the period between 1996–2013 (both included. Previous studies which have investigated this effect in the Brazilian market took periods prior to 1996, when there was no capital gains tax in Brazil. In the applied methodology, the econometric model controls for other anomalies (momentum effect and short term reversion), which also influence the autocorrelation of returns, and can not, therefore, be omitted. In the analysis reported here, the "January effect" was identified, and with greater intensity when the negative return in December was greater, consistent with the hypothesis of tax management of capital gains. No evidence was identified in the "January effect" in the subsample of firms that trade ADRs on the NYSE, composed of companies with higher market value, and more influenced by foreigner investors.

The article aims to identify perception and difficulties that producers have to adopt more socially responsible practices and environmentally. A qualitative method to semi structured interviews we used with five of the six people involved Beekeepers Association. In this sense, the research used the thematic categorical analysis, with the break up into categories according to the themes that emerge from the text identifying what they have in common. The research was divided into four thematic categories: 3.1 - Profile of respondents; 3.2 - Determination of beekeeping and honey production; 3.3 - Knowledge of the activity and importance of the association; 3.4 - Marketing and social and environmental responsibility. Social responsibility related to honey was shown as a gap in the concentrated product on concerns about the environment, influencing the decision making of the beekeepers in their business as well as the commitment to improving the quality of life and well - social welfare. The results also showed that beekeeping is a lucrative activity. However it was realized that as a result of members not being well organized, have difficulties in marketing their products.

Perception of Managers Regarding the Principle of Controllability for the Achievement of Organizational Justice

The principle of controllability proposes that managers should only be assessed based on the controllable elements, assuming that the neutralization of uncontrollable items in the performance evaluation leads to greater satisfaction, by enabling a fairer assessment. Thus, the goal of this study is to investigate the perception of managers regarding the principle of controllability to the achievement of organizational justice. To this end, descriptive research with quantitative approach was conducted through a survey to the 150 Best Companies to Work For, according to the magazine Você S/A, 2011, in which obtaining a sample of 63 respondents. Overall, the analyzes of the study show that the effect of applying the principle of controllability on the performance of managers in the surveyed companies is not direct and does not lead to an increase in perceived organizational justice. The research results show that of the tested hypothesis there is a relationship only between the principle of controllability and the procedural justice. It is concluded that among the surveyed managers there seems not to be a concern with the neutralization of uncontrollable factors, which indicates the need for more research regarding the application of the principle of controllability in the performance evaluation of managers.

Entrepreneurship research has soared over the last three decades, partly based on applying theories and constructs from other disciplines and partly delving into its own object of study. In this paper we conduct a bibliometric study on eight top ranked journals for entrepreneurship research to capture a broad view and the structure of accumulated knowledge. Methodologically, we analyze most prolific authors and nationalities, citations and works with higher impact, co-citations to understand the intellectual structure of the field, and the themes researched, to understand the focus of research. The analyses used a sample of 1.414 articles published over a thirty years period, from 1981 to 2010. Results show the growth in entrepreneurship research, that North American academy has been prominent, that entrepreneurship research has been largely eclectic concerning the theories and phenomena examined, integrating the main management theories, and permit us examine the intellectual structure binding works and theories. Schumpeter (1934) is the most cited work and five research themes have captured more attention: ‘Entrepreneurial process’, ‘Environmental and external determinants of entrepreneurship’, ‘Methods, theories and research issues’, ‘Value creation and performance’ e ‘Psychological, cognitive and individual characteristics’. We conclude pointing areas and topics that warrant scholars’ attention for future research.

Biases in Satisfaction: The Moderator Effect of Difficulty and Obligation on Positive and Negative Memories

Based on the theoretical assumption that individuals can distort information and opinions in their memories recovery process, this article proposes that satisfaction evaluations are influenced by such distortions. In two experiments individuals were requested to remind and to report facts about service providers companies, demonstrating that it is possible to positively influence (vs. negative) satisfaction evaluations by asking only positive facts (vs. negative). However, the influence of positive or negative valence does not act isolated, but depends on two other factors together, the difficulty and the obligation perceived. In volitional acts (with intention, not forced) individuals who had to recall positive events (vs. negative) of their business relationships evaluated themselves as more (vs. less) satisfied, but only when the perceived difficulty was higher, indicating more deliberation on the events. However, when forced to remember and disseminate information, the different valences influence only occurred when the task was perceived as easier. Therefore, this study contributes to relationship marketing theories by investigating the influence on an important factor, satisfaction evaluation and, contributes to information processing and decision theories by demonstrating that bias of evaluations depends not only of the perceived difficulty, but also of the perceived obligation on the task.

The recent and new information platform of the judicial branch fostered grater efficient and speed in court proceedings. However, it triggered significant changes across the functional structure and the working practices of the directly-involved agents. This study aims to investigate the organizational learning in this critical situation of change in the work process regarding the virtualization of the Brazilian court proceedings by sociological approach of Giddens (2009). For this purpose, the actions carried out by employees-agents of a department of personnel management of a Brazilian Federal Regional Court (TRF) were analyzed from the Giddens’ Theory of Structuration and its main concepts, such as agency and duality of structure. Besides, in order to problematize the complexity of these processes, we attempted to make approximations between Giddens’ propositions (2009) and the political and philosophical reflections of Hannah Arendt (2010; 2012) as regards of the dialectics of power relations identified in their practices.

In the last years, Environmental Management (EM) courses have come to form a new class of manager that, in theory, are able to administrate issues related to the environment. Although they have been around for more than a decade, such courses are little known in terms of curricular structure and don't have National Curriculum Guidelines. The discussion about the formation of Brazilian environmental managers could contribute to placing the EM course in the context of constructing the identity of this new professional category. This study proposes to pull up the disciplines present in the curricular matrices for EM bachelor's courses, aiming to identify the weights in various areas of knowledge, especially, in the area of administration for the construction of this new class of professional, inferring about the conception of the Curricular Matrix structures of such courses. The methodological procedure adopted was the analysis of the documentary content which consisted in verifying the content of the curricular menus and matrices contained in the pedagogical project policies (PPP) of the EM courses. Despite the multi-disciplinary character of the course, we observed significant participation from the Administration disciplines in training Brazilian environmental managers, confirmed in the discursive content verification of the PPP that present the Environmental Manager as an environmental Administrator. Such statement lacks other more profound studies about the issue of power disputes in the EM field of training.

Organizations may manage their operations more efficiently and leverage business strategies through Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), enabling them to add competitive advantages required for success and enterprise sustainability. Scholars and business leaders often dispute the value ICT brings to businesses because of high investment required for acquisition, implementation, and maintenance. Investments by organizations can be managed under the project perspective. The Project Portfolio Management, in turn, has the purpose carry out the identification, evaluation, selection and prioritization of projects thus establishing an optimized project portfolio. The Project Portfolio Management was later extended to the ICT projects and was then proposed to approach ICT Project Portfolio Management. Various organizational factors can influence the execution of this process, beyond inherent technical and methodological issues. This study identified organizational factors that affect ICT Project Portfolio Management and analyzed their influence on the process. The research is of an applied nature, qualitative, exploratory and descriptive, and was executed in multiple case studies through analysis of three mid-sized commercial Brazilian banks. This study’ main contribution is reached through the creation of a conceptual structure that represents various organizational factors that influence ICT Project Portfolio Management. There are indications that organizational factors have great influence on this process, given the responses obtained in interviews with professionals of the banks analyzed.
