The impact of the strategy of credit in the liquidity and yield: an analysis of the department stores of the sector of retailing

The present research has for objective to demonstrate to the impact of the credit policy in the liquidity indicators and yield of the department stores of Globex Utilidades S.A., of the Lojas Americanas S.A. and of the Cia. Brasileira de Distribuição. It was found that, for the three companies examined, the credit policies and conditions of sales taken directly infl uence liquidity and profi tability. Strategies lending more fl exible, almost always resulted in lower liquidity and lower profi tability. Most of the analysis showed no trade-off between liquidity and profi tability, it indicating that credit policies are more liberal have been not translated into real gains for fi rms, undermining the maximizing shareholder value.

One of the major sources of environmental impact at industries is its production process, which is responsible for the creation of residues that can damage the environment severely. This paper analyzes environmental sustainability in a beverages industry by focusing on its production process. To achieve this goal, an exploratory case study was conducted, employing a quantitative-qualitative approach. The study was divided into three parts, beginning with the Theoretical Background, followed by the Sustainability Analysis, and the application of the summarized environmental management Plan 5W2H. The results indicate that the fi rm presents a good level of environmental sustainability, but there is still room for improvement. Regarding the production process, good results were obtained for environmental sustainability, but the company presented faulty aspects which hindered its results and can be enhanced in order to improve the global sustainability of this beverages industry.

This study has the aim of identifying which variable remuneration practices are being used by the companies and how the remuneration goals are linked to the goals derived of the Management Control System and also, if there is coherence between the individual and organizational goals. The study was developed within 21 big companies, the majority part of the ranking of the biggest 200 economical groups, ranked by “Valor Econômico”. The obtained results show: 1) the variable remuneration, with individual goals, is linked to reaching the organizational goals; 2) the adopted practices by the market for the variable remuneration has a different power talking about the managerial behavior; 3) the action confl ict can be shown if the individual goals have not associated to the global goals of the organization; 4) the variable remuneration system has a motivating in the search of the a performance.

In the context of the Public and the National Accounts the expenses of previous years assumes special signifi cance, since they have to be considered for obtaining national accounts defi cit. Thus, this paper intends to present the criterion that serves for calculating those expenses under the law and the level of services that are implementing the public accounting plans. As a main conclusion, it is pointed out that the criteria adopted to recognize expenses of previous years are not harmonized hindering the pretended convergence between the Public and the National Accounts and prejudicing the defi cit reported to the European Union.

In this article, will be applied the DEA methodology in the balanced perspective indicators (equal weights) of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC), in order to defi ne effi cient and ineffi cient units. For this, we analyze 38 retail segment agencies, of a single national institution, which is ranked as one of the largest Brazilian banks. The results show the Multicriterial Performance Index – IDM, which represents the consolidated index of multicriterial performance of each agencies under analysis, considering the fi nancial, the operational, the customer and the staff performance perspectives. We can see, yet, at the 10 % level of signifi cance, that the performance is related to the size of agencies, because the average multicriterial performance of 10 major agencies is higher than the 10 smaller agencies. This refl ects the scale economies that exist in the operations of agencies.

Universities are peculiar organizations whose operational and budgetary information assume signifi cant complexity. The objective of this article is to present the proposal of a panel with basic institutional information about Brazilian universities, with a synthetic and illustrated conception. With the identifi cation of available information, those considered basic and relevant, were selected according to the space restriction for the synthetic approach of a panel. Then, it was proposed a panel entitled “X-Ray”, which application can be carried through for any Federal Institutions of Superior Education of the Brazilian Federal Government, taking in to consideration the common and minimum reports demanded.

This study aimed to investigate the infl uence of a master’s degree in Accounting in the scientifi c production of masters graduates of the Program Multi-Institutional and Inter-Regional Graduate Gegree in Accounting from UNB/UFPB/UFPE/UFRN. We conducted an exploratory and descriptive research by applying a questionnaire to graduates of the program and data collection relating to his scientifi c production from their Lattes. In their results, we can see that only 30.85% of the components of the sample participate in some research group, 66% of research projects undertaken by them were initiated after entry into the Masters, and that the means of publishing journal articles and events after enrolling in graduate school are signifi cantly higher than those prior to this admission, which proves the positive infl uence of titration in their scientifi c production, which can be ratifi ed with the test of difference between two means.

The objective of this study is to make estimations which allow the establishment of signifi cant relationships between determined fi nancial ratios and company insolvency. The sample was taken from open Spanish companies which do not pertain to the fi nancial or insurance sector. The results show that various accountancy ratios are able to classify companies as solvent or insolvent with a 95% degree of certainty when taken from the previous year to failure. The Rate of Return on Assets, Profi t Margin from the Operating Result and Cover for Financial Expenses were those indicators which provided the strongest discriminant power. It was therefore concluded that univaried models show signifi cant capacity to predict the risk of insolvency. Besides that, these models count on greater practicability in the process of estimation and implementation, in contrast to the multivaried models.
