Show Abstract
In order to check the behavior of the disclosure of accounting information regarding the measurement of biological assets, this research analyzed, through checklist, based on the guidelines on disclosure of 29, the Financial Statements, from 2008 to 2012, of the thirty open capital companies from BM&FBOVESPA who owned these assets. It is a research that is qualitative, descriptive and based on document analysis. Noting that biological assets were material in relation to total assets, it was observed that the method of cash flow stood out as an alternative to the fair value by the absence of an active market at various stages of maturation of these items, being also more easily obtained. Companies that formed culture near closing date reported using historical cost as equivalent to fair value by the proximity of training dates and preparation of financial statements. However, the evolution does not exceed the requirements of current accounting standard.
