This study investigated the dividend distribution policy adopted by companies listed on the Stock Exchange of São Paulo between 2002 to 2013. Thus, it sought to identify whether companies paid (or not) dividends; when distributed, is made through dividends and / or Interest on Equity; and, the payout levels adopted. The results show that the majority adopts to pay 25% of the adjusted net profit as minimum dividends, possibly to guarantee legal participation in company profits to managers. However, when they distribute dividends pay above the minimum, there being Incremental Payout. On the distribution form, they prefer adopt dividends as a form of investor remuneration or have been in them composition. Also seen that companies avoid changing the adopted distribution policy, maintaining the form of remuneration and the payout level.

Organizational Complexity and Female Leadership in External Audit Companies

The aim of this research was to identify differences on organizational complexity between companies audited by men and companies audited by, at least, one woman. The theory used in this study was built by the events of glass ceiling and pink-collar work. The research data was formed by 447 listed companies. To analyze the data the research used simple logistics regressions. The results of this study suggest that the more complexity the organization is, the more likely it is to have a men auditor as a responsible to the audit work. Furthermore, the research identified that from 447 companies analyzed, only 64 had, at least, one woman as external auditor responsible to the audit services. This amount falls to 38 companies if it is considered only the entities in which audit work is headed only by women.

The objective of the study is to analyze the relationship between the perception of certified public accountants about Brazilian Accounting Standards Applied to the Public Sector (NBC TSPs) and the characteristics of accountants and municipalities in the Santa Catarina State. To that end, a descriptive, survey and quantitative research was carried out that comprised the 295 certified public accountants of the municipalities in the Santa Catarina State. The sample was obtained through the application of a questionnaire to public accountants, totaling 46 respondents. Descriptive statistics, Spearman’s Correlation and Correspondence Analysis (ANACOR) were applied to analyze the data. The results indicate that most of the municipalities investigated started the process of adopting the NBC TSPs in 2014, with the level of education (GRAESC), the responsibility for bookkeeping (RESP) and the number of entities under the responsibility of the accountant (ESCRIT) associated with the perception of public accountants about changes in the adoption of NBC TSPs, which may facilitate and create resistance to the process of adopting new standards.

The aim of this study is to investigate the articles published on Public Governance and Accountability in the Public Sector national and international journals in the area of Public Finance from 2005 to 2015. This research outlined as descriptive, exploratory bibliometric analysis qualitatively quantitative. The results show that research on that subject is scarce, for 355 articles related to the research question only 86 of them dealt with the theme, and these 12 national and 74 international. Finding the largest volume of publications in the years 2010, 2012 and 2013 with 13, 13, 11 publications respectively. The findings of this research seek to contribute to the area of Public Finance, to allow viewing of the existing scenario on specific topics. However, it is suggested new research as a means of comparison panoramas on other timelines, given the limitations of this research.

The market is efficient if new relevant information causes change in stocks returns. Stocks can be affected by events and this can cause oscillations. The paper analyzes the reaction of the market to the disclosure of information about the largest education institution listed in B3. It was used the event study to confront the behavior of the return of stocks in the period from September 30, 2015 to September 30, 2017. The research starts from efficient market theory. The selected information was distributed in groups, being: A - Disclosure of quarterly results; B - Share purchase and sale transactions; C - Changes related to Student Funding. The results showed that the reaction that characterized the efficient market factor was identified in Group C, partly corroborated by the stock price behavior.

Considering the present organizational context in which there is an intensification of the efforts made by organizations aiming to provide higher eficience to the management control systems, this research is presented. Such work aims to understand the influence of a isomorphic mechanism on the timely closing process in relation to the performance management. The research methodology applied on this examination consists in a case study in a large representative multinational organization in the segment in which it operates, through interviews, questionnaires and video. Finally, the findings suggest that there is no relation among the three isomorphic mechanisms to the extent that it was identified that only the coercive and mimetic mechanisms influence the timely closing process, while there is no evidence on the influence of normative mechanism regarding the such process.

This study investigated which factors may be related to the SCF accounting choices made in 112 non-financial companies listed on the B3 Novo Mercado in the period from 2010 to 2015. The main contribution of this study is to provide an overview of how companies considered high level of corporate governance in Brazil are evidencing their cash flows with respect to the comparability and also the management of the SCF, making choices that imply an increase in the operational cash flow. This study provides evidence that most companies present the SCF by the indirect method and follow the accounting policy recommendations contained in CPC 03 to classify interest and dividends paid and received. In addition, the size of the company and the growth opportunities appear to be related to the ratings choices of interest paid and dividends received, respectively. The results in the Brazilian context differ from previous findings in other markets, probably because of the institutional environment in which companies are inserted.

The study aims to determine how the information interfere in the decision-making process, from the Prospect Theory. Pondering the hypothesis that the presentation of certain situations can interfere with the decision-making process, minor changes were made in the context of certain problems, to test the framing effect. Methodologically the research is characterized as descriptive, with experimental procedure and qualitative approach. The experiment was carried out from the questionnaires for Administration course academics, the sample consists of 178 respondents. Befitting the Prospect Theory, the results show that when exposed to negative situations, respondents were characterized as more likely to risk situations, while in positive scenarios, positioned themselves with aversion to loss situations. The results of the statistical analysis show that the variables of experience (measured by the learning time and the period of the course of administration) and the gender, presented a relation of significance with the relation of risk aversion, highlighting the importance of the analysis of the framing effect in the process of decision-making.

This study aims to analyze the perception of Master’s students in Accounting Sciences of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte about the applicability, skills developed and teaching position in Problem-Based Learning (PBL) applied to accounting education. It is a qualitative, descriptive research, in the form of a case study, whose primary data were obtained through a focal group, after the application of the case study "What is the profit? “How much do you want to give?” adapted by Benjamim Júnior (2011) for the PBL. Content analysis took place through open and axial coding using ATLAS.ti 7® Software. The results show that the method can be applied to several disciplines of the course of Accounting, enabling the acquisition of interdisciplinary knowledge and market practice. The proposed problem allowed to develop knowledge in Management Accounting, Corporate Accounting and Corporate Social Responsibility, skills related to problem solving, critical analysis, independent study, selfregulated work and communication, and cooperative attitudes.

Prices’ behaviour of the shares on the stock exchange, as a rule, mirrors the state of the economy hence the option for this type of investment does not always generate a positive return. Fundamental analysis for equities assessment plays an important role in making investment decisions and implies the analysis of companies' performance. The aim of this study is to verify, among the selected companies, which is the best asset for investment with a potential for appreciation and creation of capital gains for investors. We have conducted a bibliographic; documentary; quantitative and exploitive case study research. We have calculated a set of key indicators for the period 2010-2013, having as data source annual accounts. It was found that among the mentioned companies, the best asset for investment was Mota Engil, as it has showed the best performance regarding the selected indicators.
