The article aims to demonstrate the application of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis in the development of a scale for measuring Entrepreneurial Corporate Governance (ECG), in privately held Brazilian companies, from items of the dimensions of the Corporate Governance (CG) constructs and Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO). Data were collected through a questionnaire from 828 company managers, using 300 responses for exploratory factor analysis and 528 for confirmatory factor analysis. At the end of the statistical tests, the 21 items of the scale were grouped into three dimensions (transparency / accountability, corporate responsibility and equity), different from the four dimensions presented in the literature. ECG, then, represents a new prism for having incorporated the dimen sions of EO into those of CG, so that the CG of organizations are more focused on innovation, risk propensity, proactivity, competitive aggressiveness and autonomy.

Motivators for Ride-hailing using in Brazil

The objective was to unveil the motivators for the use of ride-hailing services in Brazil from exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis with a sample of 2950 users. Six variables were evidenced that induce use with utilitarian consumption appeal, which were strongly impacted by technological facilitators. The results corroborate with a substantial part of research that indicates elements of an economic, socioeconomic and technological order as motivators of consumption, and refutes results indicative of aspects of a purely social and/or environmental nature by pointing out that the facilitators of access, consumption based on cost and personal interests superimposed on collective ones underlie the decision-making process of the consumer. The study is the most extensive survey carried out in the country so far and reveals the dimensions and variables that impact, from the point of view of users, the structuring related to the offer, representing an advance in proposing a permissive model of inferences regarding the reasons for use of service, with national coverage.

The sociological stream of organisational neoinstitutionalism incorporated diverse analytic approaches for understanding institutions that present both macro- and micro-sociological perspectives. In the macro perspective, the action of social actors is defined by the institutions; and, in the micro perspective, there is an emphasis on the action of the social actors in the institutional dynamic. This study conducts a critical review of the literature on the old organisational institutionalism, focusing on the construct of institutional capability proposed by Selznick, and develops a comparative analysis between these capabilities and those of organisational neoinstitutionalism, as well as approaches derived from it. From this analysis is possible to synthesise an alternative for studying institutional change (i.e., re-institutionalisation) based upon institutional organisational capabilities, which are configured at the individual and collective levels, and endow the social-actor agency for institutional change.

The aim of the article was to understand organizational practices through narrative analysis in organizations inserted in the context of the local creative economy in the city of Caruaru, Pernambuco, Brazil. Two organizations located in the Agreste region of Pernambuco were accessed: an organization related to the popular culture segment and another organization related to the information technology and startup development segment. We use the nature of qualitative research, using the triangulation of methods such as participant observations, semi-structured interviews and document research. From the empirical material collected, we found that organizations are practices constituted by narratives. We have accessed six of these practices: puppet-making practice, rehearsal practice, event-making practice, teaching-learning practice, presentation practice, and incubation practice. We also analyzed the strategies (developed by public agencies) and the tactics (developed by the practitioners). The tactics were perceived as practices of construction of spaces in imposed places. We also discuss the Creative Economy practiced in the city of Caruaru as a context (site) in which organizational practices take place and are tensioned, showing strong heterogeneity.

The high number of new startups operating in the market has intensified competition and increased the dispute to conquer and maintain users. To be successful, it is crucial to better understand how antecedent variables interact with consumer loyalty. This article tests the effect of frequency of use on the relationship between online loyalty and its antecedents (satis faction, trust, perceived value and convenience) in the domain of startups that provide transport services by apps. Structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) and multigroup analysis were used to test the study’s hypotheses. Results indicate that frequency of use affects differently the relationship between online loyalty and its antecedents, especially concerning trust and satisfaction, for groups of customers with high versus low frequency of use. This discovery contributes to a better understanding of online loyalty, especially in the service sector, and provides managerial directions for companies to attract and maintain clientes.

This study examined the influence of the elements that make up the absorptive capacity (AC) dimensions on the innovation capacity (IC) of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The research took place through a survey with questionnaires applied to 309 SMEs. We used the structural equations modeling technique (SEM) to analyze the data. The results showed that the dimensions of potential absorptive capacity (PACAP) and realized absorptive capacity (RACAP) have positive but distinct effects on the IC of SMEs. However, the impact on IC increases when the dimensions of the AC are evaluated in a multidimensional and individual manner. The study contributed theoretically by proving the multidimensionality of the MC construct in the universe of SMEs. As a managerial contribution, it is evident that RMCAP has a greater influence on the IC of SMEs, which proves the importance of managers/owners developing routines that enhance knowledge transformation and application.

This research investigates how the sociodemographic characteristics of landowners impact the financial risk tolerance of individuals. A field survey was carried out with Lato Sensu graduate students from different public and private HEIs in the State of Paraná. The method used was non-probabilistic for a sample of 372 cases through a questionnaire. The validation of the Droms and Straus (2003) financial risk tolerance scale was performed using the CFA (Confirmatory Factor Analysis) technique and the data processing was performed using the multiple regression analysis technique with heteroskedasticity correction. The results consistently show the impact of sociodemographic variables on the risk tolerance construct, namely: gender, marital status, race, income and education, however, the age group was not statistically related due to the youthfulness of the collected sample.

Green Bonds and Performance: an analysis of publicly traded brazilian companies

Green Bonds are relevant financial instruments for mitigating and adapting to climate change, and have been attracting the interest of companies around the world. In this sense, the objective of this study is to verify the impact of issuing green bonds on the financial performance of publicly traded Brazilian companies. For the analysis, panel data regressions were performed from a sample of 50 publicly traded companies in the period 2015 to 2020. The results showed that the fact that the company issued green bonds did not influence the performance of companies measured by ROA, ROE and Ebtm neither in the year of its issuance nor in the years after its issuance. These findings contribute to future research on the subject in order to guide researchers and managers regarding the understanding of the importance of green bonds to finance projects that minimize environmental impacts.

The research objective was to analyze the energy distribution privatization results in Brazil through residential consumption performance indicators. The methodology was bibliographical, starting from the literature review. The distributors more consumer units per region were selected, namely Eletropaulo, Coelba, Celg-D, RGE-Sul and Amazonas Energia, and the data triangulation from DEC, FEC, DER, FER and INS was performed, compared with the investment level, the IASC (ANEEL Index of Consumer Satisfaction), the SINDEC (National Consumer Protection Information System) from Procon and the websites Consumidor.gov.br and Reclame Aqui. The results indicate a positive balance of the energy distribution privatization in relation to the service continuity indexes DEC, FEC, DER, FER and IASC, where those privatized for a longer time had better results than the recently privatized ones, but they need to improve response times and complaints resolution.
