Hinterland is an area of influence of a port, and once it is identified, it makes it possible to trace strategies and highlight opportunities for the port growth and development. This study aims to identify the hinterland of Porto Organizado de Vitória, which is an important port complex for the State of Espírito Santo, where through surveys of port movement data, it will be possible to delimit its areas of influence, and with that, seek to identify and understand what are the current challenges faced by the ports of this complex.

This study deals with the port-city relationship, especially the identification of the analytical perspectives adopted in the literature to approach the theme. Understanding and harmonizing the interactions between the port and the city should enable them both to fulfill their role: the port, with its transport focus, collaborating with global supply chains; and the city as a space where relationships and social activities take place. This study allowed to identify, from the literature review, the main perspectives adopted in the studies and research carried out on the port-city relationship: economic; infrastructure of access, urbanity, environment, historical, social, political, management, governance and planning.

This article analyzes the trends in the repositioning of empty reefer containers in Santa Catarina state port terminals from Itajaí, São Francisco do Sul, Navegantes, Itapoá and Imbituba, from 2010 to 2017. As a methodology, a quantitative approach was used, with a multiple case study method, through exploratory and descriptive research, using secondary data. The results show handling concentration of full reefer containers in export and empty ones in import, well above the average related to the proportion of the worldwide fleet of reefer and dry container, with impacts on the logistics of shipowners and port terminals.

Port performance has become a determining factor for the development of the world economy, as maritime transport is the main link in the global logistics chain. In this context, the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method has been used to study the efficiency of port systems and the results support organizational decision making. Thus, this article aims to identify the state of the art on DEA applied to ports. Through a bibliographical survey, fifty-five publications on the application of this method of mathematical modeling in the port sector were registered. Of these, fourteen studied the main world ports and only five focused their analyzes in Brazilian ports, which can be considered as a research gap. In addition, it was found that most of the studies are focused on port systems of containers. Therefore, there is an opportunity to explore the DEA tool for other types of loads.

The objective of the work is to carry out research and evidence of national and international publications on the subject of port leasing management models. It is an applied study, with quantitative character, whose delineation follows the guidelines of a descriptive research, with the use of bibliometric analysis as an analysis tool. The research was carried out in IEEE, Science Direct, Scopus and Web of Science databases. As a limitation of the study, the non-use of keywords used by the authors in the portfolio articles was obtained, as well as the increase of the databases. It is suggested for future works the expansion of the key words, in order to complement the understanding of the gaps identified in the present study and the accomplishment of other analyses to the research subject, such as the meta analysis and the metasynthesis.

This article proposes the design of a platform to support the design of public policies for cargo transportation. The focus of attention is what is called the “last port mile” or ports land interface in the inter-port area, which is also known as drayage transport. As a case study, the Port of San Antonio is considered. The results of the tests and experimentation will serve as recommendations for regulations and standards for the design and development of circular economy services in a port logistics community, as well as public policies for the sector.

This study aims to evaluate the port community system (PCS) effect and its influence in port performance. In the Portuguese case, the port single window (JUP) is evaluated, with which it is identified. It was used analysis of the main components and the structural equation modeling (SEM) methodology, applied to the sample of 153 valid responses, obtained in the Portuguese port community. The results show different factors that constitute the port community system and big differences between the generic PCS and the Portuguese PCS (JUP). The performance factors also present strong differences. As the main contribution, we verify the different factors of PCS with impact on different performance factors.

An analysis of the first second stage of implementation of this reform was made, the concepts of planning, execution and control of the operation were studied, according to the process of continuous improvement. Finally, definitions for dynamic assessment of capacity and performance were made compatible, which enable integrated operational logistic control among port terminals. Therefore, conceptually the results raised on methods of evaluating operational performance in internal and external performance of this process of reforming the port governance model, subsidize decision-making in an efficient and effective manner. Ensuring greater transparency among the actors involved, providing greater integration of development plans at strategic, tactical and operational levels, in which performance indicators point to existing idleness, inefficiencies and bottlenecks.

This article discusses the decision factors for the implementation of specialized port terminals in the region known as Arco Norte, ports located in the Northeast and North of the country. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) decision tool was used to apply a questionnaire with port specialists and managers. The results showed a great relevance for the Port Location criteria (54%), followed by Economic and Financial (27.8%), Performance and Dimensioning (11.2%) and Contract and Legislation (6.9%). The study concluded that the priority is for Private Use Terminals, considering the current situation in the country and the investments in private port terminals in force in recent years.

The main objective of this work is to raise and discuss the resources identified in a landfill operation carried out in a public port in the Northeast (BR). The research was based on a qualitative approach and the analyzes were carried out based on observations and interviews with the main managers responsible for the companies that actively participate in the unloading operation, based on the results on their perceptions. As main results it was possible to discuss the failures and problems present in the operation with respect to the management of resources, in addition to the incomplete perception of managers regarding the management of these resources by their companies.
