The aim of this study is to evaluate the recognition (or environmental scanning) as a stage of decision making strategic management of environmental signals in organizations and define the weak signals and environmental demands of process in organizations. Therefore, from the literature review were revisited the main theories of organizational decision-making process - and all the steps - setting a reflective analysis on the anticipated environmental signals in the trace from this theoretical framework, following the assumptions needed be considered for organizations in environments of dynamic changes. The important insight that results from this work is the systematization of a process of continuous monitoring of the competitive environment that is the environmental scanning, defined here as one of the stages of decision making in organizations. The environmental scanning focuses on the anticipation of environmental changes, preparing the organization to anticipate and manage actions to act quickly forward to strategic surprises. The work aims to further studies that incorporate qualitative analysis of organizations in environments of rapid cycling, where these propositions may be tested.
