We analyzed the organizational images present in the imagination of 25 owner-managers of organizations that produce and/or sell religious articles of institutionalized religions: Catholic, Spiritualist, Evangelical and Umbanda. These organizations are located in four cities of the Triângulo Mineiro region. For the collection and analysis of data, we used the structured interview technique and the content analysis method. The research is based on interpretive ontology and epistemology. The theoretical approach is guided by sociology and history studies of the religions, and metaphor studies. In the results, we analyzed the missionary organization metaphor as a conglomerate of images of the organization and we explored the relationship between thought, language and the action modes of the sacred (God) on the profane (the organization and its management).

What we know about the low-wage work and the low-wage worker in Brazil? Probably the economic criterion will be used to derive a more objective response: the level of income what they have. Alone, this response neglects that low-wage work is performed by a certain workers group that have many problems to access another labour reality, in the face of a series of social preconditions that make the precariousness of work into something premature and durable in their lives. In this theoretical essay, we reflect on the limitations of economic criteria for the debate on the work of low-income Brazilians in organizational studies. As a result, we indicate some implications for research practice.

Based on a postmodern style of thought, this article encourages a discussion about the processes of organizing as an approach that takes a fresh look at the organizations and its phenomena, which are to be understood as achievements, as results of heterogeneous, continuous and precarious processes which, for being in constant production, generate an apparent stability. We seek to present the notion of organizing, its origins, some of its perspectives and what could be their potential contributions and implications for the field of organizational studies, in terms of research and teaching practice. We conclude that organizing can contribute to the denaturalization of the notion of organization as rigid, homogeneous and unproblematic structure. It is also aligned to the discussion about the prevalence of organizational metanarratives. Thus, organizing is presented as an alternative to the study of organizations and their complexities, generating ideas and efforts in terms of teaching and research.

The Actor-Network Theory (ANT) leads readers to develop different looks, from the redefinition of the notion of social, which returns to its roots, again allowing the establishment of connections. For Latour (2005) society, far from the context in which all things are framed, is interpreted as one of several elements that connect. It is likely claims Law (1992), most of our relations is mediated by the materiality. What organizations would be if not for the presence of materiality? Among the several notions and concepts covered by the ANT, we chose to discuss the notion of agency actors (actants), which seeks no-dichotomy between human and non-human elements. Our purpose in this article is then to identify and discuss contributions to the ANT organizational studies addressing the agency related to the non-human, without ignoring the human and with a watchful eye to relationships. So, the way we’ve found to “show the Agency of non-humans” was evidence (through the descriptions and analyses of research) their relationship with humans and how these relationships provide each other, through excerpts from two studies developed in the field of Management. The TAR therefore help to assign actions to a greater number of actantes. Discuss questions about agency is directly related to the establishment of connections that the TAR advocates. It is the connections of heterogeneous elements that the agency becomes “capturable” the researcher.

This paper aims to contribute to a reflection on the formation, generation and development of knowledge in marketing in light of critical hermeneutics. This is a review in which the authors envision new possibilities of critical studies in the field of social sciences. It is argued that the epistemological approach to critical hermeneutics provides a theoretical and methodological framework for the advancement of critical studies in marketing in that it focuses on interpretive assumptions of philosophical and sociological basis. It is evident, therefore, that the hermeneutic criticism is seen as a form of analysis and critical reflection on the marketing education, since this contributes to interpretation and less procedural and more reflective processes. Thus, it is advancing in the discussion that hermeneutic lens marketing may appear when this field is perceived more chopped and at the same time the mobility behavior gains at different speeds in relation to past designs.

In this paper, we revisited the concept of organizational legitimacy by rescuing its structural character and elucidating its link with the principles most rooted in society. In order to do so, first we raised the origins of the concept, developing definitions of its use. Then we described the different dimensions of organizational legitimacy, comparing the perspectives of various authors. Following, we discussed issues related to its levels of analysis, to the objects and also to the sources of legitimacy. Finally, we conclude this essay pointing out the consequences and implications of legitimacy, including the organizational survival and performance.

When considering the many social changes lead by technological developments and the current scientific production regarding digital inclusion topic, this research presents the backstage of the digital inclusion process, comprising the description of the process of learning about information technology and communication, the identification of factors that involve in the process and the verification of the individual effects in the digital inclusion process of teenager, young, adults and elderly, in the context of three digital inclusion actions. Results were explored through an ethnographic study. As evidence, one can highlight the digital inclusion as a tool to provide social inclusion and affective and social impacts on digital inclusion.

This article analyzes the relationship between (i) political articulation activities created to obtain data and information necessary to evaluate a public policy and (ii) the availability (or unavailability) of such data and information. We studied the financial inclusion policy conducted by the Central Bank of Brazil (BC) from 2009 to 2012 as a case study. The main financial inclusion initiatives related to this policy and promoted by BC in the period are described, as well as the political articulation needed, directly or indirectly, to obtain such data and information. The article concludes that political articulation activities contribute significantly to obtain data and information to evaluate a public policy.
