O objetivo deste artigo é analisar a influência da estrutura normativa das profissões, principal fundamento do isomorfismo normativo, no processo de adoção de uma prática acadêmico-pedagógica por diferentes unidades organizacionais em face de pressões isomórficas mandatórias da Reitoria da Universidade Alfa, no período de 2000 a 2010. Adotou-se como fundamento teórico o institucionalismo organizacional, com base nos conceitos de isomorfismo e lógica institucional. Utilizou-se o estudo de caso retrospectivo como estratégia de pesquisa, tomando como base entrevistas e material documental. Os resultados evidenciaram que a pressão para a coesão sistêmica das organizações conflita com a coesão dos sistemas nos campos organizacionais onde se inserem: o isomorfismo normativo mostrou-se negativamente associado ao isomorfismo mandatório.
