Abstract:
This research investigated cultural interferences from the Systemized Educational Process implemented to the Parakanã People, located at Xingu area, west of state of Para. This project was previously submitted to the University of Taubaté Committee of Ethics and the Education Secretary of Belem do Pará Municipality, which has accessed the results of it. Methodological procedures were based on a qualitative approach, supported by documental analysis, interviews and questionnaires, besides some of the most important cultural and religious events have been documented as a photographic diary. Data collected were submitted to a interpretive. The chosen sample reflected 10% of the whole population installed at the same location. Research findings have pointed out that the Educational Program does not consider Parakanã People culture. A dichotomy was noticed on the way teacher perceives the relevance of preserving Indians traditions and spontaneous attitude. And, moreover, there are strong communications barriers in between. Within the Indian group, there is a visible dichotomy between the youngest and the oldest, about the maintenance of Ethnics customs which shows up by the abandonment of typical clothing and adornments to adopt non-Indian behavioral standards what shows up an ongoing cultural change process.
